Epidural or gas and air?

Aw

I’m 35 weeks pregnant with my first and the thought of labour is terrifying! I’m in the U.K. so epidurals aren’t used as much as they are in other countries. I’ve heard of so many people being refused an epidural if they request it during labour and that’s what I’m scared of.

For me my worry is that it will slow down the second stage of labour, I’ll struggle to push and in turn stress baby out. It also increases your chances of needing instrumental help like forceps.

I feel like going in stating that I want an epidural at some point during my labour and if I change my mind I can just say that I no longer want one, but I feel like they will judge me for asking for one.

I’m not good with pain, all of my birthing classes were cancelled due to the Coronavirus and online just isn’t the same. I’m scared the pain will be too much and I won’t cope.
