Do you always have to go to bed with your partner?

So my mum whenever she is tired and wants to go to bed my dad ALWAYS has to go aswell. Sometimes if she is really tired or bored she will go bed early at like 5 in the afternoon and he will still have to go. I remember once she went to bed and he was still watching a movie downstairs she started banging her foot hard on the floor boards rattling the whole house and screaming that he had to come upstairs NOW he told her he was watching a movie and she ended up turning throwing this belongings out of the window his laptop clothes etc then turned all of the electric of so he couldn’t watch tv. She does this every time I personally don’t see why someone should have to go to bed if they are not tired I think it’s selfish
