My May baby turned into an April baby!
I'm posting here because you ladies have been with me through this entire pregnancy and I appreciate it!!
At 38 weeks my skin became so terribly itchy. I'm talking like I wanted to skin myself! My stomach, arms, legs, hands, back...you name it it was itching. That began on a Wednesday. Friday was my appt. I was 38w 6d at that point. I spoke to my doctor about the itchiness. She was nice and all but didn't seem to take me seriously. She said the itchiness was coming from inflamed stretch marks and told me to get hydrocortisone. Ok, well I only had stretch marks on my stomach so that didn't really explain the itchiness everywhere else. She's a doctor, I'm not so I didn't challenge her (I should have). Got the hydrocortisone and slathered....I mean SLATHERED my body with it. I could've had some fun if I had a slip and slide.
Fast forward to Monday still itching despite using the antihistamine. Tuesday, still itching. Wednesday still itching and completely had it at this point. I had been googling (I know I shouldn't but I needed answers) all week long and kept coming up with potential choleostasis. So as I said, I was done. I called my doctor's office and informed them of what was STILL going on. They had me come in and thank God it was a different doctor. She listened and agreed she believed it to choleostasis. She decided it was safer to go ahead and be induced. She said head home, grab you husband, grab your bag and go have a baby.
Hubby and I got to the hospital at 6 pm and they started me to cytotec, which thins your cervix. Oddly enough I hadn't been feeling contractions or BH until I got to the hospital. It's like my baby new, now is the time. At 1:45 am got up to use the bathroom for the 100th time. Started washing my hands and BOOM...my water broke. They started giving me pitocin right after that. Contractions were getting more intense and by 3am I was 3 cm and requesting an epidural. Y'all my anesthesiologist was amazing. I'm sending her a gift every holiday! I was able to doze in and out of sleep and was awaken at 6am to get checked. My midwife checked me and immediately said ok, we're having a baby. You're at 10. I started pushing at 7:30 and my sweet baby boy was delivered at 9:12am.
I couldn't have asked for a better delivery. I didn't feel ANYTHING. Nothing at all (until the epidural wore off). Unfortunately I had a second degree skin tear as well as hemmoraged twice internally. My husband said he's never seen so much blood! Anywho, baby is here and doing amazing and mom is healing.
Thanks for all the support you ladies have shown me during this crazy pregnancy of mine.
Here's a picture if my handsome LO!!
