Induction???

Question

Does the doctor set an induction date if there’s no medical reason but you are nearing or past 40 weeks? Just curious.

Every doctor is different. Some induce way too early before the actual estimated due date (just an estimation!) which is not good if there’s no reason. It’s Stress for
You and baby. If there’s a medical reason I totally understand but our bodies know what to do and when to do it. If the baby isn’t ready it’s not necessary to induce.. makes me sad to see how many doctors induce for no reason. My doctor won’t induce unless I’m at least 10 days past my due date. Which I’m sure won’t happen. Let the baby come on its own terms! I know everyone is tired and exhausted (including me) but an induction is way more painful etc and and intervention oftentimes not needed! Either way, good luck momma. Don’t take my opinion personal, just seen that there are soo many women on here being induced and not always for a reason.

Depends on you and baby. I’ve always carried good sized babies so they’ve always booked me in to be induced at 41 weeks but I’ve always gone just before that anyway!

I just left my appointment. I developed preeclampsia at the end of my last pregnancy so I’m high risk this time. They are calling today or tomorrow to schedule an induction during my 39th week! I’m 39 weeks tomorrow.

Mine scheduled my induction for 39 weeks.  Due  to previous fourth degree tear. Rather get induced at 39 weeks than wait for this baby to get gigantic 😬😬😬😬😬

I’m being induced Thursday if little man isn’t here by then. He is measuring a week ahead of schedule and with my body type/frame, if we let him stay in any longer, I’m not sure my body would be able to handle his size for birth. He will be 40 weeks exactly on Thursday. Thankfully though, I’m already 2cm dilated and at least 70% effaced, if not more by now... so they are technically only going to be breaking my water and will not have to be given medication for a true induction.

My induction is scheduled for 39 +2 because of gd and slowly rising bp. If I wasn’t having these issues they wouldn’t schedule an induction until after 41 weeks

Mine says exactly ten days after due date. I’m due on the 17th so she said “We’ll book you on the 27th”.
