Anyone have a similar experience?

My little one is in the NICU (born at 29 weeks). Shes now 33 weeks and has her feeding tube. She just started experiencing some reflux after feedings where she’ll have some apnea and drop her heart rate and oxygen. She also threw up all over me today after her feeding. They say she’ll outgrow it and that it’s due to her being premature but anyone have the same thing?

The exact same thing happened to my daughter . She was born 11/25/2020 at 33 weeks and at 34 weeks she suddenly started to have apnea episodes (not reflux related at first) and would turn blue her oxygen would get so low . She also started having bad reflux and would hold her breath turning her lips blue , arch her back and head ,  coughing , squeaky breathing ,and grunt in pain from the reflux . Premature baby’s generally do have reflux due the muscle (flap) that lets food into the stomach is not mature and opens up . If they had more time to mature in their moms stomach that muscle would have been stronger . My baby finally came home at 39 weeks but she went home still having apnea episodes due to the reflux and sometimes it would be very scary because she would cough and then stop breathing. She is now over 3 months old and we have gone to many specialists about this and she was just put on three different medications multiple times a day to help with the reflux . It has been over a week now since she had an episode . I know she still has reflux due to gagging , arching , and grunting but I’m just happy she has not stopped breathing . The doctors told me around a year is when they grow out of it so I’m hoping that between that and the medication she can be more comfortable.

My daughter is currently in the NICU (26 weeker) and is at 35 weeks now. She has the feeding tube in and is having the same complications. It will pass, they take tons of tests to watch all of your babys levels and takes the proper course to correct the issues. Sometimes it just takes a little more time for certain issues to level out. If you need a momma with a similar situation to talk to, you are more than welcome to come to me.

My daughter was born at 34 weeks, but she had a similar thing happen and she did outgrow it. I wouldn't worry about it too much, especially if they aren't.
