Breastfeeding troubles
My baby girl was born on April 26th and wasn't able to breath on her own right away. She's was taken straight to NICU.
The nurses told me I could pump, so that's what I did. I tried to nurse her on the second day but she wasn't latching. So I asked for a lactation consultant to help. The lactation consultant came and tried to help get her to latch but she still wasn't having it. Eventually that lactation consultant just told me that sometimes it takes a while for a baby to get the hang of it and told me to just keep doing skin to skin with her. It's been two weeks now and my baby still isn't latching 😟 I try to nurse her before every feeding but we haven't gotten anywhere. I've tried different positions, I've tried nursing after a bottle or mid bottle, I've tried a drop of sugar water on the nipple, I've tried hand expressing into her mouth, I have a nipple shield coming in the mail and im gonna ask at her next Dr appointment if there's a lip or tongue tie. I can't think of anything else to do but I've been feeling very discouraged and depressed by all of this. Does anyone have any ideas that might help? I will literally do anything to be able to nurse my baby.
