New upvote count

Glow has now made it available to be able to see how many upvotes a user has gotten so far since making their profile. For some reason this rubs me oddly. I feel like its unneeded information and creates a "popular girl" culture or an ego thing . Alternatively it can create insecurities in some users who dont feel like they have enough upvotes. What do you all think? I personally dont care at all I just would like to know how others perceive this change, and if they had initial thoughts on seeing this. What is the positive in making how many upvotes a user has gotten public for all to see? Do you think you'll see users differently or respect one more than the other depending on their upvote count?
