If you live with your partner, in their home, do you pay rent?

I’ve been living with my boyfriend in his house for a while and I don’t pay rent. I do pay for the wifi and a good amount of the groceries. I’m just wondering what other people do!

Nope. I don’t have a job but even then he never made me pay for rent or let me pay rent. I take care of the apartment, clean and make him food for when he comes home on the weekend from his job out of town.

No. It was a mutual decision for me to not work, and so he pays all the bills

If they’re renting, I definitely think it makes sense to split the rent. If they’re buying the house and building equity, then I’d say its more iffy. It depends on how serious you are, I guess

Currently I do not since I’m in school and any income I have in the summer goes toward school or sometimes food. I do all the cooking, cleaning and shopping tho and pay for Netflix and amazon prime with hbo so it pans out.

My boyfriend moved into my apartment, we split rent, electricity and groceries down the middle. He does spoil me and I typically don’t pay for dates or when we eat out (back when we could still go out)

When we were still renting, my husband paid the rent, I paid for all food and household products (and the cleaning lady 😊)
Now he pays the mortgage and all things related to the house, I still pay for our daily life. Holidays and other extras are paid randomly, though he tends to pay for the more expensive stuff.
In the end it does not matter, it is our money anyway. It is not as if one of us would say no if the other could not afford something and needed money.
