PP periods

I’m 10 months postpartum and just had my 2nd postpartum period. I was expecting my first pp period to be really heavy, however my second was even heavier. So heavy that I bled through a super tampon and even filled the pad I was wearing for backup in 3 hours. I had pretty light periods before I had my daughter - I mostly wore light tampons, only regulars occasionally. So my question is should I expect these heavy periods to be my new normal or will they calm down a bit?
