Nearly 38 weeks and terrified to give birthšŸ˜©

Aw

Aw

I feel so unprepared, I donā€™t do pain at all. I canā€™t cope with the slightest niggles of pain. Iā€™m 100% going to ask for an epidural but my fear is they will be too busy or wonā€™t give me one - Iā€™m in the UK and they arenā€™t as commonly used here. I had slight cramping an hour ago and I started to freak. Iā€™m so excited to meet baby but I think Iā€™m scared of that too.

Please send me your positive birth stories and even if you didnā€™t have a ā€œpositive birthā€ experience Iā€™d still like to here of your thoughts and how you look back on your experience. I keep thinking itā€™s fine because itā€™s going to be temporary but itā€™s still so scary. Iā€™m 23, this is my first pregnancy and baby and she definitely was unplanned which I think is making it scarier even though I wouldnā€™t change her for the world! This whole virus has thrown me off toošŸ˜– No birthing classes, no seeing family and being cooped up for nearly 9 weeks now.

My positive comment is this: once it is over you won't even remember the pain and you'll have a beautiful baby. Soooo worth it! Yeah, it hurts. It hurts a lot. But I felt it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

I 100% agree with "when it's over, you won't even remember". After my first two babies, I was like "never again!" But here I am on number three. šŸ˜ You've got this, mama! You've grown an entire life inside of you! Don't sell yourself short!

I unfortunately don't have a positive birth story but one thing that helped me that's weird is once the contractions started getting bad, the nurse started telling me when they were coming and I think because I had a second to prepare for them it helped me relax because if you're tense it's so much harder.

I was terrified too. I couldn't do any classes just like you. I couldn't bring myself to even watch videos about labour. But thankfully my birth was actually fine! It was really quick (5 hours total and like 10 mins of pushing). I just kept telling myself that it would end and I would get a little break after each contraction. The time went super quickly and I managed on gas and air (plus paracetamol). You kinda get into a rhythm. It's amazing what your body can manage.Good luck. You will get through it and it can be much easier than you're expecting. šŸ˜Š

Hey mama I was soooo scared too! I had my first at 17 and I was terrified. I promise your body can handle it. Your first few hours of contractions arenā€™t even that painful like in the movies lol. Thereā€™s nothing I or anyone can say to prepare you, but my advice is just to relax and know that weā€™ve been having babies for centuries! Trust your body ā¤ļø
