Day 16, getting into position

li

It’s the beginning of day 16.

My little chicken fetuses are getting in position to hatch, they are now absorbing the yolk of the egg into their abdomens.

I’m getting nervous because my incubator WHICH IS BRAND FREAKING NEW.

And is one of the most highly reviewed brands has started making a weird noise.

It has however maintained perfect humidity and temperature throughout the entire 16 days it’s been running.

If it shits out on me, I’m going to be pissed the fuck off.

But anyways ☺️ I think everything will be fine. I will literally make a run to tractor supply and buy a POS incubator off the shelf if I have to, just to get these baby chickens here.

And I think these little eggs are rolling themselves around already. I’ve always had automatic turners so I’ve never been so hands on and I went to turn them (you have to turn the eggs or else they’ll only grow on one side of the shell causing a plethora of issues) and I swear to god a few roll back and I feel like a crazy person for witnessing it. They do move around in the egg, but usually aren’t strong enough to move the egg around until near hatch day.

Reason I’m not showing candling pictures: you can’t see anything but blood supply and little twitches of movement because the egg is so full of bird

About the ducks and the coop: I have experience with putting new baby chickens and older baby ducks together before. I’ve made it work before. I just plan on putting them in the coop after they’re a few days old. Because of the baby ducks (here’s a pic)

I have the coop set up with a heat lamp and everything. If Theres a pecking order and the ducks are just mean to the babies I will figure something else out as I go. We have another coop but it’s just not set up for babies. I would just have to work on it some.

Kinda bummed because it’s such a cool “brooder coop rabbit hutch turned into baby chicken house” set up lmfao
