Is he just wanting a friends with benefits thing?

So basically I’m 17 and this guy I’ve been talking to I’ve always talked to off and on and our parents were friends and we’ve known each other since we were little but have never been super close. We’ve always kinda had a thing for each other but it never really went anywhere. I’m a little nervous for it to go anywhere because I feel like he’s so much better than me because he’s popular and on the basketball team at my school, but I know he’s really not because I know his home life. He’s sweet and very attractive but he always calls me hot and talks about having fun with each other and hanging out but also talks about cuddling and I’m not sure if this is something he’s like serious about and wants to eventually be in a relationship or purely friends with benefits. We haven’t done anything yet and I’ve only ever had sex with one person and I feel like he’s pretty experienced. So all of this brings me a lot of anxiety. Any advice would be helpful! Thank you!
