long periods being on birth control

So my friend had surgery a couple years ago to remove a cyst on her ovarie. The doctor said to take birth control to help regulate her hormones. She's been off the pill for awhile but recently got back on it. She's a little worried because it's been almost two weeks since she started her period. I told her it was her body flushing out the bad juju 😂 and regulating her hormones. Maybe I'm wrong, any opinions?
