Should I move on?
I’ve been seeing this guy for a little over a month now. In the beginning he was flirty and engaging and wanting to see me. It was fun, and I’ve met his mom and brother and he’s met my sisters. This tapered off and he stopped flirting and it seemed like he just lost interest. He’d still talk to me regularly, though. So after a few days of dry conversation I didn’t respond one day and I didn’t hear from him for over a day.
So I called him, asked to talk. Told him straight up, this isn’t really working out. It seems like you’ve lost interest and I’d like to end on good terms and have this conversation instead of just ghosting each other. He apologizes, says this hasn’t been fair to you, I’ve just had a lot of family issues going on right now and I’m sorry for neglecting you. He told me his aunt is going in for surgery and there’s a high chance she may not make it. The whole family is on edge and it’s been very stressful. He told me about this about a month ago. His other aunt recently fell and broke her hip, and his cousin who he’s close with just found out her cancer has come back. So, yeah... I’d be stressed out too, especially with all the COVID stuff and he was out of work for two weeks and hasn’t gotten his unemployment check yet.
I forgave him, I know life happens. And someone you’ve only been dating a month isn’t really a priority. I get it. So I asked if he’d like to keep seeing each other, getting to know each other. Not committing to a relationship yet, but working towards that. Either that, or part as friends. I told him I would be okay with either one, but i said if you decide to continue dating I’m going to need more from you. Just reassurance, I need to know and feel that he wants to be with me.
He said he doesn’t have an answer, he likes me still and likes being with me, but isn’t sure if he’s able to commit to this yet. I told him to think it over, take some time and assess and let me know. That was two and half days ago.
So, should I just move on with this? I like him a lot, we live an hour apart but he lives close to my family so it’s no issue for me. I’m patient, and I’ve learned a lot from previous experience, should I wait for his answer or move on?
Sorry for the long post lol.
