Cervical checks?

Curious as to when everyone started getting cervical checks? I’ll have my 36 week appointment next week and I forgot to ask the NP if I would be getting checked. And how do they check? Just by feel or do they use a speculum?

I don’t until I’m in labor. What you’re dilated to means absolutely nothing unless you’re in labor.

I got checked starting at 35 weeks this week and at that check I was 2cm dilated. My OB uses two fingers to check and it doesn’t hurt me, maybe just uncomfortable for a few seconds! Sure you can refuse if you want but I personally want to know if I’m dilating just out of curiosity. Even though people say it doesn’t matter what you’re dilated to, it’s fun to know in my opinion and they can’t take that away from you! ☝🏼😋

I had mine checked today at my appointment - 36 weeks. It didn’t hurt and only took a minute. She used her hand and I had to lay back in a 🐸 leg position 😂

I got checked today and I’m 37 weeks. I asked my midwife to check because I ve been having bad cramps at night for a week. They use their fingers and mine actually didn’t hurt. Found out I’m 2-3cm dilated but baby head still high.

I got checked at 35+4 and he just uses his hand. No big deal for me. But this is my second go around so I know in comparison of what’s coming it’s not that bad😂

I started last week at 35+2 (just with OBs fingers, no speculum) because I reported some contractions. They checked again today but still not dilated any.

It varies based on the provider, typically they use their hand. My provider does not give checks unless requested until 40+ weeks. I declined at 36 weeks
