How long for IUI?

Hi all, my husband and I are ttc baby #1. After finding out he has low sperm count as well as poor motility and morphology we have been on the road to iui/possibly ivf. He goes in june 1st for a follow up semen analysis and then we meet with the doctor june 4th. If there has been no improvement in sperm is it realistic to think i can do iui in july? How long does it take to prep the body (considering all my tests have been normal) and or are many hormonal shots required before iui like ivf? Please let me know if you have any experience with this. Thanks!

There’s really no prep involved with IUI. I do know that some fertility clinics are not doing IUI’s so hopefully your will be in July. From what I remember, you call them on the first day of your period, if you’re doing medicated, you take Clomid or whatever they prescribe. Then you come in when you get a positive opk for your trigger shot (again if you’re doing medicated) then an IUI the next day.

We were not candidates for iui with my husbands low count (morphology and motility was normal on what he had). We did ivf icsi, much better success rate than iui. A urologist suggested surgery for variccoles but there’s a 3 month recovery to see if it worked. I read on here that in a lot of cases there was little to no improvement. So since our insurance covered ivf, so we just went for it. 10 days on birth control, about a week of injections/ follicle checks, retrieval, 5 days later was the transfer. 10 days after transfer we were confirmed pregnant. Our son was born in January 💙

I start IUI in June and they will only let me do clomid 100mg, no injections because my clinic will not perform an IUI with more than 3 mature follicles. We also have male factor infertility and my doctor told me today that we are more than likely going to have to do IVF.

If all your testing is complete and in order  you can go straight into a cycle at the start of your period.
