Post C section essentials?

I’m 36 weeks, baby is breech, doctor cannot safely flip him. We scheduled a c section for June 7th. This is my third and I’ve never had a c section. I’m feeling bummed (selfish, I know, but working through it) and I’m a bit nervous. It’s what’s best for our baby though! I’ve had my bag packed for the hospital, but now I’m not sure if there’s extra essentials I will need? Help a mama out please! ❤️

High waisted underwear!!! You definitely don’t want anything rubbing against the incision. I lived in skirts, dresses, and high waisted leggings after my c-section. 
Ask your doctor what (if any) over the counter medications they will be prescribing (Motrin vs Tylenol, if they will be prescribing a stool softener) and have them in the house for when you get home. Mine prescribed Motrin and Colace along with a stronger pain killer. Mine was an emergency and I wish I had that stuff on hand because when I was discharged I was about an hour or so away from my next dosage and now I needed to wait for my husband to get to the pharmacy.
Accept any and all help, especially with your other kids. Rest but also do as much walking as you feel comfortable with after, it will help with recovery.
I do have to say that I thought things were going to be a lot worse than it ended up being. I’d never had surgery before that and didn’t know what to expect. You just need to be gentle with yourself and take it one day at a time!

High waisted underwear as well. Depending on your budget you can just get high waist panties or there’s a brand called Kindred Bravely (something like that) that I’ve found on amazon. They have high waist undies with light compression for post c-section. Good luck!
As for being bummed it’s totally alright. I obviously want my baby to get here the safest way possible but I’ll be pretty bummed to if I have to have a c section! Don’t feel bad.

In terms of extra essentials for a c-section.. I found that it’s no different than regular birth. Other than you may not need the cooling pads for the hoo-ha. (I personally didn’t) still need the usual pads for bleeding - because you will still bleed! And if you want to invest in your own binder you can. The hospital usually gives you a binder after surgery in the hospital but you may want one that is more comfortable. High waisted underwear to go over the incision!

The underwear is absolutely true. I found that depends (yes the old lady underwear/pad things) is amazing because it also catches all of the oozyness from your c section scar. Also, bring lotion for your skin. You can't put it on your scar, but you can put it on the skin around and it will stop any itchiness. Bring high waisted pants (like high waisted yoga pants) or a dress to leave the hospital in because trying to put pants on the scar will feel terrible. Also bring a good body wash. Your skin will be covered in gunk and you can't take a shower for the first day (or more. I wasn't allowed after my first c) because of the stitches. So when you do shower you will want to actually feel clean.
