Raw Butt!?!?!

My LO has been using the bathroom like crazy. 4 dirty diapers a day so we had to go back to soy since she’s having a milk intolerance. But her little butt has gotten so raw and paste isn’t helping it at all. Any advice?

If you're using wet baby wipes, stop. A cloth with water, or even better a solution with alcohol free witch hazel, liquid coconut oil, aloe, and water will help. My son's skin on his butt was raw on day 4 of his life after using wet wipes. We'd used the wipe solution and dry wipes with my daughter, but we were being lazy and hadn't made any at that point for my son. Anyway, once we saw his butt was bleeding, we switched to dry wipes with the homemade wipe solution and he hasn't had a single problem since.

At least an hour a day no diaper really helps. Try and let air dry before putting the cream on. Buttpaste or desitin work best for us

We tried a few different pastes and it wasnt helping and would be so hard to get off her. I tried a sample of aquaphor ointment and ended up getting a huge tube its been the BEST.

I would do a televisit with your doctor. Or take a pic and upload it into The portal at your doctor office. It could be that baby has a yeast type rash. It would need a prescription cream. Also once you get the rash under control, use A&D with every diaper change! It creates a water barrier and helps prevents a rash. My little one has only ever had two diaper rashes. Both were from thrush/yeast. The A&D really helps!!

We had this at one point too — literally just wiping made the bare skin on his bum bleed. A few things really worked for us: first, go without a diaper whenever you can; second, use a damp cloth to wipe, not baby wipes; third, do one or two baking soda baths a day (we did two teaspoons in his baby bath; fourth, just use Vaseline, not diaper cream for a few days (diaper cream is a great barrier, but is thicker and so harder to wipe off, so one you’re already this irritated it actually makes it worse).

Our pediatrician had to give us a medicated ointment when it son had raw spots on his butt because it kept starting to go away then coming back. That was the only way we got rid of it for good.
