So when I went to check on scandal today, I noticed something. (I’m taking pictures through the incubator. The lid is still on.)

And the egg behind those eggs is also chirping. It just hasn’t broken the shell yet.

Scandalous egg has made a whole ass peep hole in his egg. This is the point in hatching where they rest. They slowly turn in the egg and make more hacks at the shell slowly until they can get the top of the shell off and push out by their heads.

From first pip to full hatch can take 24 hours. But everyone is really really loud, crying because they’re self aware that they’re stuck in an egg.

And rolling around in them like “wtf” and screaming their heads off

Tomorrow I may be posting 2-3 fully little chickens. Including scandal.

5 hours since I posted this.

Scandal egg has made one more little poke. He has become more chirpy.

Actually I’ll be a nerd and explain what’s happening to scandal right now.

If I shine a light into his peep hole that he made, I can very much see his mouth. Guess what, he seems to be multicolored with black and white. He is making movements with his mouth like he is eating, which indicates that he is still absorbing the yolk. (Side note, have you ever had an IV and have tasted a weird taste in your mouth?) So he’s not ready to do anything else yet. He still has a good while before he starts moving forward (this is normal)

So tonight he will finish doing that. Tomorrow, he may no longer be an egg.

May he become a scandal chicken.

Update: they ALL 4 hatched today

The baby sleeping on the right, that’s scandal. He used to be the egg. Now he’s a chicken.
