IUD...thoughts?

I have a Pap smear on June 10th. I’m wanting to discuss birth control option. I’ve tried the pill in the past...multiple kinds and it was awful. I have friends with an IUD that have mixed feelings but leaning towards that. Wanting opinions and experiences!! Good and bad!

I love my mirena iud. Cramps during insertion and 1 month afterwards. No other side effects. No condoms or pull out and havent gotten pregnant. I check my strings monthly. Yes irregular periods are a common side effect of hormonal iuds. 
This includes heavier bleeding, longer bleeding, spotting, spotting between periods, periods closer together or farther apart, or no bleeding. Usually happens with the first 3 to 6 months but can happen anytime during the use of the iud. 
If you have mirena up to 20% of users stop getting periods and its the only fda approved birth control to help treat heavy periods. Kyleena stops periods in up to 12% of users and skyla stops periods in up to 6% of users. Youre most likely to have irregular periods with kyleena and skyla because they're lower dosages than mirena. 
Mirena is 52mg of levonogestrel, kyleena 19.5mg of levonogestrel and skyla 13.5mg of levonogestrel. 
I have mirena and my periods stopped after month 4 which is what I was hoping for but most people on any iud still have periods.

I have kyleena and I’m pretty satisfied. When inserting the IUD there were two INTENSE cramps. A pain getting to the cervix that only lasts for about 3 seconds and another one opening the cervix which lasts the same amount. After insertion it honestly didn’t feel like anything changed. Until days later you will notice cramping pretty bad..every day, it was too intense I was about to take it out myself lol but just be patient and the cramping eases off as it adjusts to your body. 6 months in and I have no regrets. Only thing I would say is periods are weird but that’s to be expected with a hormonal IUD. Hope this helps! Also, doctors would advice if you haven’t had any kids to do kyleena or liletta because they are smaller compared to mirena. Kyleena lasts up to 5 years just like mirena and the hormonal levels is a lot lower than mirena as well.

Loved my Mirena. Had it until it expired then went off bc for a year. Efore going on a different IUD, I think it was Kylina. I hated it. After being off birth control and finally knowing my body, I couldn't go back to not knowing! I use fertility awareness method now and I love it!!
