We had twins! 🐢🐢

Sometime around Christmas, we adopted two adult red footed tortoises from our local RSPCA, a male and a female. I am not exactly sure how old they are, but judging from the size of them, I'd say the female is about 20 years old and the male 30 years old. They live in our backyard and eat our veggie scraps, meat scraps aaaaaand dog poop 🤢 (pretty gross, but they do make a handy clean up crew! We have 3 dogs 🤣). We were told by the RSPCA to keep an eye out for egg nests soon, and expect about 20-30 eggs 😳! Well, sometime in February we did catch the female laying, but only the two eggs. We brought the eggs safely indoors, and we were just beginning to give up hope that they would hatch, but we had a good rainfall for the first time in weeks about 3 days ago and out they came! Guess that is what they were waiting for ☺️. We've called them Franklin and Filburt, and they will join our other tortoises, aged about 3 years old, in our atrium until they are big enough for outdoor life! These guys bring our tortoise family to a size of 7! Mom and dad are Cassiopeia and A'tuin, and our other atrium tortoises are Morla, Om, and Grand Master Oogway. Bonus points if you know where all the names come from 🤣.
It's neat because I have my first baby due on June 2nd, so I will be able to easily keep track of Franklin and Filburt's birthday!
