Is there a stigma or vilification against people who dislike dogs?
Everyone has pet/animal preferences, and everyone’s allowed to want certain pets or not want certain pets for various reasons. In my personal experience, when someone says they don’t like an animal for whatever reason, it’s usually disregarded fairly quickly, *except* with dogs. That dislike is always questioned and looked at sideways.
“How could you not like dogs?!”
There’s a lot of internet memes/images/quotes surrounding the topic. But there’s not much of the same fervor for other animals or pets, even cats. It just seems more socially acceptable to dislike cats, or other types of pets like birds or lizards.

There is a subreddit group called r/Dogfree where people who dislike dogs discuss issues surrounding dogs and irresponsible dog owners. They’re frequently, FREQUENTLY trolled and harassed by people who dislike the group and dislike anything negative being said about dogs.

And there’s just not really any other sort of sensational loyalty to other types of pets people may have.
If someone says they don’t like lizards no one is really going to care, yet lots of people own and love lizards and reptiles. It just isn’t the same when someone says they dislike dogs. Why do you think that is? Do you think people who dislike dogs are seen or looked at differently?
