So my bf and I have a two and a half year old. We’ve been dating for 4 years now. the past year or two now, I’ve been talking about wanting to get married a lot. He always says he feels the exact same and that he would purpose soon and he’s excited for us to get engaged and get married. He’s been saying that for almost two years. He keeps creating a checklist of things that need to happen before we get engaged. Every time everything gets checked off, he adds more things. It’s come to a point where I just don’t understand. I’d totally understand if he doesn’t want to get married yet, but he says he does. We don’t live together and I raise our daughter practically on my own. We see him for a couple of hours a day, 5-6 days a week. He says almost every time i ask, that we will be getting engaged soon. Should I believe him or will we never get married. I’m starting to think something else is going on.

Update with a little more back story;

We got pregnant young. we are both in our early 20’s now. I live with my family and he lives with his own. I’ve been begging him since we had our child to live together but there’s always a reason as to why we shouldn’t until we get married which i understand because i’m religious. His family said we could live in there guest house together when we get married if we wanted to.
