Is it rude?

I love my fertility clinic. They’re all very nice but I hardly ever get to see the doctor. I know this is common but I am paying wayyyyyy too much out of pocket for IVF. Sometimes the IVF nurse contradicts what I had originally spoke about with my doctor! For example: my AMH is 6.5 which is in the normal reference range and my doctor told me this was great for my age, however my nurse told me this number is too high and it suggests PCOS and possible poor egg quality, huh? There’s a few more situations like this (not huge issues) but they bother me! I want to call the front desk and ask for my suppression check to be WITH THE DOCTOR, not his nurse or APRN- the DOCTOR who is creating my plan of care. Do you ladies think this would be taken as rude to the nurses/APRN? Again I like them a lot.. i just want to feel comfortable and be on the same page.

They’re both right. It’s great for IVF because you’ll get lots of eggs. Your number is high and it means very high probability of PCOS, which can cause low egg quality. I’d call your doc and get some answers. Most docs sugar coat everything.

I don't think the nurse is necessarily wrong - your AMH could be indicative of PCOS but one level doesn't give the full picture, but I would ask your doctor for more clarification for sure. If your doctor didn't seem concerned then that is great, but I'd also push for more answers so you know what to expect. Also - the lab results may say in "normal" range but it is up to the doctor to interpret - not the lab to diagnose.

I had the same problem.  Lots of low quality eggs. We retrieved 30 and ended up with 5 embryos.  My first transfer is my 5 month old. And will do another later this year. So it's not the end of the world if you have low quality eggs. Ivf can weed those out. I also only saw my doctor 2 times during my whole time at the clinic. But the nurses were great.

No it’s not rude at all.  If I was getting comments that concerned me from nurses I would definitely ask to see my doctor.

I am sorry, that has to be rough. We did 5 rounds of IUI and then IVF (also all out of pocket). I can't imagine having to deal with contradictions in info though. We also saw our doctor literally every appt that wasn't a blood draw. But every ultrasound, scan, procedure, and important conversation she was there for. On her days off or during her vacation her partner doctor saw us instead...I hope everything ends up well in the end and I am sorry you have to deal with the frustrations. You're right..these procedures are waaaay too expensive to feel lile an after thought to your doc. I wish you the best of luck and hopefully I will see your post later about your success!!!

Depends how they measured it if it was measured in (Ng/ml ) then yes it's very high. If it was measured in (pmol/l) and your 30-34 it could be considered normal ???
