I take it the same as someone who wears a “make America great again” hat = a statement. As a half Mexican/half African American, confederate flags are a warning sign to me. Sure people can be proud of their history but in this day and age, they know what they’re doing by waving it. And if they don’t then they are choosing to take the blind side. Why not just the American flag? I’ll just continue to use it as a warning system for where to stay away from.

Under the first amendment people do have that right, but WHY feel the need to fly the flag when there’s the American flag? The flag we know today glorifies the war

I mean, you can fly it and it’s protected. At least it lets me know who to avoid.

I think anyone who agrees and loves the confederate flag should absolutely and proudly display it to the public’s eye. I want to know who to stay the hell away from.

to me its a red flag literally and figuratively. Why raise that flag anyway? The south lost, they were fighting for the rights to keep slaves for gods sake. Just raise the american flag thats ALSO  a part of history. The people who raise that flag know what theyre doing when theyre supporting it or showing it, they know the statement it makes. To me personally, its another symbol of racism. Its a symbol of historical racism.

To some its not about what it represents and they aren't racist from what I know they just have because its history to them but they don't have it raised or showing since they don't want to upset people but thats just from what I know. I don't know their complete thoughts.

I said yes but it’s not that easy. I think they have the RIGHT sure. But should they? I mean. I don’t know. I feel like at this point they know how it comes across. So either they’re trying to start shit, being ignorant, or really just are proud of southern pride and all that. It’s just not an easy black or white for me.
