17 & Birth Control?

Hello everyone I was wondering what form of birth control you would recommend for a 17 year old girl. I know their are different options but I want to get a few opinions on what they think. I want to go on birth control because my cycle is irregular. I am also sexually active and I feel it would be smart to further protect myself. This being said my mom and I don’t about sex but I have had the same boyfriend for around 2 years. If anyone has any tips on how I could ask her please let me know! I don’t want to continue to worry about having sex ( I know the risks but you know what I mean). Also if anyone knows if you have to get a Pap smear to go on birth control will you let me know?
