I’ve been dating a guy for a few months. We both have kids from previous marriages. I told him me and my ex have a good friendship with one another because we’ve known each other for 10 years. Him and his ex arent friends anymore so he feels like I should be the same way with mine. Now all of a sudden, he wants me to cut all ties with my ex. I understand where he’s coming from and I’ve explained that my ex and I will never be like strangers to each other because we agreed to stay in each others lives. We have love for one another but we are not IN love. But he still has a problem with it. I’m not going to let him ruin the family dynamic my ex and I have worked hard to show our daughter. We always want her to know we care about each other and her..even if we aren’t together

Yeah you should probably break up. He’s insecure about your ex you have a kid with. Even though you’ve reassured him previously. Your relationship with your daughter and inevitably maintaining a good relationship with her father is a lot more important I think.

I think he should respect the relationship you have with the father of your child, it’s not like he is just any ex you are parents together. Good for you and your ex for making sure you have a good relationship for the sake of your daughter. Absolutely stick to you guns your daughters stability and happiness far out weighs your partners insecurities. Before breaking up I would tell him this and leave the ball in his court either accept you are in good terms or leave

Yeah, just cuz his relationship sucks with his ex, has zero impact on yours. It can be so hard to coparent with someone and you and your ex have managed to put your differences aside and do that for your daughter. If he can't respect that, he's gotta go
