When my husband straps on his velcro and zips up his boots, getting ready to walk out the door, I get anxious. I hate it when he leaves, because i have no idea if he's going to return home at the end of the night. He deals with all of the BS that comes with the job, people threatening him, threatening his family. Deals with rape victims, with burglaries, with domestics, murders. He goes out every day without knowing if he's going to make it home. We have a son on the way, due in 4 weeks, and im terrified hes going to have to grow up without his father.

Someone commented on this Facebook post and said "you don't choose the color of your skin, but you choose to be a cop". Its true, you do choose to be a police officer. My husband, and all of the other officers at our police station are AMAZING men. They all put their lives on the line to protect the innocent, to do their best to uphold the law and keep order. They wanted to make a difference and they do EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I am outraged that there are officers out there that disregard peoples rights, and lives, like the one that killed George Floyd. I truly am. But for every corrupt officer there's more that are doing the best they can to make a difference in a shitty world. There are 2 sides to every story. Before you go condemning every single officer, keep in mind that they aren't all like that. And please pray. Pray for the officers that are good men, trying to do the best they can in a world where they are also condemned.
