Sleeping questions

Kyla

(Long post, sorry.) My son is just over 7mo and sleeps in a bassinet that's attached to our bed. It's big and he still has room to grow in it. He has never slept through the night. His usual routine (when we're not going through a leap or something) is to wake up twice for a diaper change and quick feed then back to sleep. Overall, I'm fine with it - I'm so used to getting up twice with him that it doesn't bother me. And I like having him next to me so I can reach over and soothe him if needed.

Here's are my issues and questions:

I'm feeling a lot of pressure from society/parenting books/MIL/husband to move him into his own room. I keep hearing that I should've done it by now and the longer I wait the harder it will be. That he should be sleeping through the night by now. That I'm creating all sorts of problems for him and me by continuing to let him get up twice a night. I need to start sleep training asap. Etc etc.

As I said, I like having him near me. I don't mind getting up. So is it really a problem? Am I setting myself up for a hellish time later when he does move to his own room? Basically, are they all right and I'm wrong?
