Hospital Stay During COVID-19

Alexis

Today I am 33 weeks 6 days. I’ve been in the hospital since Monday 😣 I made an appointment with my OB for severe itching I was having. While I was there, my BP spiked and they found protein in my urine so I was told to go to the OB ER right away to be admitted for monitoring.

I called the OB ER before heading over to make sure my husband was allowed to join me and just to make sure there weren’t any other rules I wasn’t aware of.

I was really scared to be here, especially with all the COVID-19 stuff going on. Let me tell you, the OB unit has been nothing short of AMAZING!! My husband was allowed to join me (after I was checked in and given a room number). Masks are mandatory in the public areas obviously (hallways, cafeteria, etc) but not in the room itself (I know a lot of ladies on here have been questioning whether you’d have to wear your mask the whole time and labor with it on). He has been allowed to come and go as he pleases (I’ve been sending him to work, no use being stuck here with me all day). The only rule is no switching out your support person (I’m in Florida). Once I registered him in the system as my support person, no one else can fill his spot or switch out with him. The cafeteria has specials going on for food. My husband has been able to eat dinner everyday for under $5 (that’s unheard of at a hospital cafeteria).

I just wanted to give you ladies some peace of mind during all of this. I know many of you have to be freaking out right now, especially with our due dates being so close and this pandemic still out there.

Good luck mamas!
