What is the best age gap between babies? Would love explanations!

From a medical standpoint for the birthing person,  3 years is actually the sweet spot. 
There have been numerous studies on this. 5 or more years, your body goes completely back to the way it was before pregnancy, so it is like carrying and being pregnant for the first time to your body. Under 3 years and your body hasn't replenished itself completely and isn't "optimal" from a medical standpoint. They say 3 years is perfect because your body knows what to do and is ready lol.
From a parenting perspective 3 years is my favorite too!
I have 4 kids and the gap of 3 closer to 4 was the easiest for me. The gap of 3 closer to 2 was good but harder. The 5 year age gap was bad for me physically and mentally.

Mine are 24 months apart. I think it’s a good age gap! Any earlier I think would be too chaotic. Our 2yr old can entertain herself and help with baby and play with him. My only issue was potty training. She is a little behind maybe since we couldn’t devote time to taking her potty while i was breastfeeding or something. So she kinda regressed for a bit. But she’s back to going potty again so it wasn’t that big of an issue.

Mine are 26 months, we were trying for 2 years but I’m kind of glad their birthdays are a few months apart. It has been tough but as my youngest gets older it’s becoming more fun.

I don’t think there is a “best age gap” 😊  That said, I hope to have 2-3 years between mine.

My boys are 4.5 years apart. I would have liked about a 3 year age gap, we were also pretty young when we had our first. But plans didn’t work that way. And seeing how my first is with his baby brother now, it’s literally perfect. I think at 3 ish he wouldn’t have understood as much and it may not have gone as smoothly. He’s literally perfect with him and was never anything but excited (except when he cried as a newborn lol)

My children are 2.5 years apart. It was a bit too close. Three years apart is perfect in my opinion, because then they understand more. It depends on the child though, but I think it's good if the first child is potty trained and is a good talker before you have another baby, because having a sibling tend to slow things down for the older one.

No one perfect age gap, whatever works best for your family, or however it happens, you can make it work! With that said, mine are seven years apart and it's perfect for us! Our seven year old is sooooo helpful and independentso she can do her own thing if I need to focus on the baby. I get questioned all. the. time. about whether that's really the best thing, but yes, for us it is. People will talk, but they will no matter what. Do what's best for you and yours! 💕

My kids are 15 years apart. The best age gap is whatever you think you could handle. I knew/know I could not handle more than one kid who wasn’t independent. My daughter helps out so much with my son. Everyone has something to say about their age difference but people say things about kids who are close in age as well. So I say, do whatever works for you.

My sons are 3 years apart, almost exactly. While I prayed for closet babies and ended up needing ivf for number 2, the three years is perfect! 
My older son can play by himself or understand quiet time when I’m nursing. I can not imagine breastfeeding with a one or 1.5 year old. 
Developmentally 3 year old go through a shift where they realize life isn’t just about them. They start to realize others exist and are people too, which is why parallel play stops and imaginative/interactive play begins.
I also like three years because it’s enough time for them to realize they aren’t “sharing” friends and gives them their space to go through their own developments and probably not be overlapping. 
This is all just my opinion as it’s what I’ve experienced but clearly haven’t experienced any other (besides my own life with 3 sisters all 16 months apart 🤪).
