Hospital bag?

Im a ftm and just looking for some advicee, what did you have in hospital bag? What was a must? What was useless ? What do you wish you had packed? Do you reccommend a labor and delivery gown ? What about a pillow for sitting afterwards ? Is that frida mom kit worth it ? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

If nothing else, CHAPSTICK! my lips were peeling and so dry after labor/delivery. I don’t know if it’s the dry hospital air or what, but my sister had to give me hers. It was terrible haha

Ill admit I way over packed with my first. Trying to do this as best as possible by memory. I know I still have my pack list electronically somewhere  
Things I did use:
- hairties & hairbrush 
- iPad & iPhone (chargers for them)
- dermoplast (they would have provided but my OB said it saved time that I had brought my own and she could just say I could use it) 
- travel size toiletries (showered sometime afterwards, can’t remember when, didn’t shave just showered and it was long and slow moving)
- robe & basic makeup (they had a photographer come to the room for about 15 min and then tried to sell you the pictures later, only time I wore these)
- a big comfy dress and shoes to wear home (you will still be huge!)
- chapstick
- corn pillow (saved me during my back labor as it was heat and my husband pushed on it and the pressure was awesome!) Bh
 
Things my husband used:
- change of clothes
- technology/chargers (external chargers because the wall outlets weren’t close)
- music/speaker (planned to labor with this, but we mainly used it to kill time before my labor kicked in) 
Things for baby we brought/used:
- car seat (left in car until time to leave)
- going home outfit
- blanket I knitted (for photos) 
Things I didn’t use:
- swimsuit (planned to labor in water)
- yoga ball (planned for labor but IV port in my wrist made it uncomfortable)
- nursing bras etc (might use next time, but ended up just being naked underneath) 
- boppy pillow - used a lot at home, but hospital just gave me multiple pillows to adjust as needed. 
- we brought extra clothes for everyone and will probably have 1 more outfit per person just in case of messes etc. doesn’t take up too much space 
- dry shampoo (forgot I packed it otherwise might have used) 
Things hospital provided
- gowns, socks, pads, tuck pads (or similar, mesh undies. Linens etc 
- baby top, diapers, water wipes, pacifiers, baby hat (we were able to take the leftovers all home) (they provided baby blankets but we couldn’t keep them)
- colace after birth, and a prenatal vitamin every day I was there
Other:
They had a pull out chair to a bed, so I might have brought a better blanket and pillow for my husband to sleep. We only stayed one night because he couldn’t sleep.

One thing I didnt even think of was extra socks. My hospital wont let you walk around without socks on...i only brouggt the pair I was wearing. My water broke and completly soaked them! My mom had to bring me more 🤣

I don’t recommend taking much. Not a labor/delivery gown either, things may get messy during birth. I did have comfy pj’s for our hospital stay and clothes for going home, a pair of shoes to walk the hospital hallways, cute outfit for baby for when they come and take pictures and going home, phone chargers!! Save some room in your bag to take home hospital items like formula (if you choose), blankets, extra diapers, stuff like that.

I would call your hospital and see what they supply.  
Where I deliver you deliver in your own room and then stay in that room. I had all the pillows, tooth brush, pads, and baby needs in the room for me. 
They gave me gown and socks. 
An extra long phone charger came in very handy though. 
I was induced so I packed a handful of movies that kept me entertained.
