My 4 month old is constipated & in pain . What did you do????

So since she’s been born sometimes she would go 3-4 days without pooping. But then when she turned like 2 and a half months old she started going once a day or once every other day and her gas got a lot better. I’ve always suspected she has colic but the dr has never said that. I have told them about how bad her gas is and the screaming that doesn’t stop for like an hour or two sometimes until she farts a bunch and falls asleep. Wel now she’s 4 months and the past like 2 weeks will go 4-5 days without pooping. I’m& by the end of those days is in a lot of pain. Screaming again and nothing I do makes her feel better until it just goes away on its own. They told me to try an ounce of prune juice. So I did last night and she spit all of it up. And still hasn’t gone. I think it’s the 3rd or 4th day.

Baby could be allergic or doesn’t like something you’re eating.

No I haven’t pumped and she has soooo many wet diapers a day. At least 8. And she’s a pretty chubby baby we just had her 4 month.

If you’re ebf, it’s highly unlikely baby is constipatee. Baby is only constipated if the poop is hard. If it’s just gas and days in between bowl movements, then it’s not constipation. Have you tried gas drops? Mine was super gassy and a dose of gas drops before feedings helped a lot. The night time gripe water also helped a lot. You can try giving the drops in the cheek, and slowly so they don’t spit it all out. Bicycle legs, and warm baths can also help gas.

My son had this issue. My doctor sent me to get the pedialax liquid glycerin suppositories (they say 2 years and up but my doctor said it was fine) I had to do those every few days. It's a little bulb with liquid that u put into their butt and within a few mins he would go. Another thing that helped is putting some vaseline on a qtip and inserting into their butt and it triggers them to push. Worked 90% of the time for me. You just dont want to do these things every day because then they can start to rely on it to go to the bathroom. just do them when they are really having a hard time. He was constipated from switching to formula from breast milk so I had to do this until he adjusted.
