Is flirting cheating?

So I’ve been seeing a lot of posts on my Instagram lately about flirting. A lot of people (maybe 75%) in the comments are arguing that flirting is NOT cheating. The rest argue that it is cheating. Most of the people commenting that it isn’t, are mostly men. A lot of them have reasons for thinking it isn’t. And people who think it is have reasons for thinking it is cheating. A lot of people are saying “it isn’t cheating but it’s disrespectful.” So it’s gotten to a pretty heated debate on these posts. Since I’m assuming everyone in this group is in a relationship, I was just wondering your opinion!! I think it absolutely is cheating and grounds for a breakup but my fiances best friend, thinks I’m immature for thinking this? Idk!! I just wouldn’t like my man flirting with someone.

Cheating is whatever the people in the relationship discuss and agree is cheating. For my current relationship, it is not cheating

I put depends because it depends on the person and their relationship. 
For me, it’s cheating. But to me, “flirting” is having a conversation with purposeful intent to lead to something more. If you’re actively flirting with someone, you’re leading them to believe that you’re interested in them as more than a friend or acquaintance. 
Now, there’s a difference in flirting and being nice to someone. You can be kind and friendly to someone without flirting, but sometimes people read too much into it and assume you’re flirting when you’re not. The difference is the *intent* and *purpose* behind it.
It is not appropriate to flirt with someone when you’re in a relationship with someone else. To me, that’s cheating. To others, it might just be disrespectful. To some, it’s nothing and perfectly acceptable. That’s why I put “depends.”

To me it is. The person usually is deliberately giving the person they are cheating with attention they should only be giving their partner. Also it can lead to other things, you are showing that person you are interested in them.

Flirting maybe cheating to a 12 year old. I can’t see how it’ll be considered cheating in an adult relationship. I’m natural flirt.

I think it’s inappropriate and could be classified as emotional cheating depending on how intense the flirting is. If it’s just harmless, then not necessarily. Either way I don’t want my mans flirtin with noooo oneeeee.

Both my boyfriend and I aren’t ok with flirting outside of our relationship.
Idk if I’d consider it cheating, but I find it extremely disrespectful. 
I understand other people’s views on it and totally respect their mindset on it. Just for me and my relationship personally, it’s not ok.

If you’re flirting and then get their number or something because￼ you intend to try to date that person behind your partners back, I’d say that could be considered cheating. But generally, flirting is not cheating to me, although it could be considered ￼disrespectful depending on what they are saying or doing.￼

I guess technically its not cheating but if I found out my husband was flirting with another woman I would be very upset and he would be crushed if I was flirting with another man. In my previous marrige (not a good one at all) I did cheat, and it all started very innocently with a little flirting. I think if your in a happy relationship you wouldn't be tempted to flirt in the first place, just my opinion!
