Hospital bag?!

Hey! I was wondering what to put in mine and baby’s hospital bag? What are some essentials, and what were some extra stuff you packed that was handy but maybe not absolutely necessary?

Nothing, they will give you all you need. Bring just you toothbrush and paste, clothes for leaving hospital, hair brush, bathrobe-that was all I needed with my first.

*shower flip flops
*Casual Wear or PJs (yoga pants/comfy clothes that could be both!)
*moisturizer
*lip balm
*travel size shampoo/conditioner/soap
*toothbrush
*hair ties
*makeup wipes/face wash wipes (quick refresh instead of bringing your whole routine!)
Honestly that’s all mom really needs! The hospital normally will give you a whole bag of postpartum stuff to go home with!

Only thing I would add is if you have a baby book that you want to have your baby’s footprints out directly in, bring that. The nurses will stamp the footprint directly into the book. The other responses cover everything else I can think of!

My own blanket and pillow, my own deliver gown, slippers, several pairs of loose pajama pants, at least 2 robes, nursing tanks, a loose comfortable outfit to wear home, chapstick, makeup, toiletries, chargers, my iPads invade we got bored, and I think that was all that we actually used. I was in labor for 39 hours last time, so I probably needed more than some people with shorter labors, but I was glad I had it all. If you’re in the US, they give you all the postpartum supplies you need so you don’t need to pack that, but I’d pack an extra bag to carry all the stuff the hospital gives you and any gifts that people bring to the hospital. Oh! And if you’re breastfeeding, this time around I’m bringing my haakaa. I didn’t know about the haakaa last time until after she was born, but there are times when your milk is coming in that you need a little help and a haakaa would have been a huge help to me.

Wish I would have brought my own pump. My pump is a spectra and the suction on that is more adjustable and comfortable than the hospital pumps. Had issues with baby latching and also supply, hospital pump was very painful by the time I started to use it. 
Other things for me: super long charging cord, headphones, book or kindle, comfy yoga Capri leggings, nursing tank tops, zippered or open sweatshirt/cardigan, sandals. Minimal overnight toiletries, brush, pony tails, lotion, chapstick. Hospital provided disposable undies, pads, peri bottle, dermoplast. Hospital bed was uncomfortable, maybe my own pillow would have helped.
Wish I would have brought our own white noise machine, will bring this time. 
For the baby, a couple going home outfits and car seat. I can’t remember if I brought a blanket or boppy but will prob bring boppy this time. 
I’m going to try to leave hospital as soon as they let me this time because I hated the bed, how frequently ppl would come in the room, the noise, couldn’t turn the lights off like I wanted.

In mine I had my lottle mini travel kit (toothpaste, conditioner, shampoo, deodorant, body wash, and a couple other things), a couple of postpartum outfits, my 2 comfy pillows, socks, charger, insurance info & ID, one of my debit/credit cards (if I wanted a snack from the vending machine or to order out some food), pads, my comb, hair ties, nursing pads, toothbrush, chapstick, flip flops for shower, nursing bras.
In baby's diaper bag, I put a couple of white onesies, 2 pacifiers, health kit, 2 going home outfits, socks, some diapers, a pack of wipes, receiving blanket, hat, and a blanket just in case.

I’ll tell you what I brought and what I actually used with my first! 
I brought a few changes of clothes (including some undies for PP) for me and a couple for my son. Toiletries, snacks boppy pillow, pads, phone charger. 
I used the charger, ate all the snacks, I used the boppy pillow for several different things, I wore one outfit home(but didn’t use underwear cause I used the mesh ones they gave me) , baby wore his outfit but he was too small and the pants didn’t fit. 😂 and I didn’t use anything else in my bag that was stuffed full.  I did send my husband home for one baby blanket that was from home just to feel like he belonged in our home. Lol
I had some little complications after birth so I couldn’t get out of bed for like 48 hours. So, no, I didn’t shower.
