Will your child play with any toys from when you were a kid?

My mom saved a ton of dolls and toys from when I was a kid, and she assumes I want all these things for my own daughter. It’s things like American Girl Dolls and their clothes, Corolle dolls, doll stroller, and doll accessories. All of these things are 25-30 years old. I never really intended to pass them on to my daughter. 🤷🏻‍♀️ What does everyone else do?

If my mum had saved my toys and they were in good condition I wouldn’t have an issue letting my child have them personally

Sure. Especially indestructible things like LEGO and Duplo. Books, games, that sort of thing yes. Barbies and other solid hard plastic dolls yes if in good condition, soft toys, soft hollow plastic dolls and any doll clothing I would check over and give a good wash if possible because no-one needs extra dust and mould in their lungs.

We do that in our family and kids live it. My mum saved one of my pant and wooden hat from my childhood. I didn’t even know. There are lots of toys that would also be passed on to. We played with my mothers stuff. Bringing out those toys when we were visiting grandma was what made those visit so special.

My kids play with my old legos, dolls, playmobile and books. If they’re in good condition, I don’t see the issue. Now there’s some stuff that’s just outdated (safety wise) and I wouldn’t feel good about using 30 year old baby toys as they all got chewed on but other than that, yea

My son plays with my husband's GI Joe's. My mom saved all my brother's matchbox cars so he plays with those when we visit. If everything is in good shape I don't see the problem. These items are all 20-30 years old.

I had to tell my mum to stop sending me parcels of old toys. Like its really sweet but at the same time its been 3 big boxes and alot of it i feel is junk but i dont have the heart to tell her. Ive kinda had to say i dont have nursery sorted yet so hold off on the boxes!

We use the books, lego, American girl doll, and K-nex toys. Some wooden ones that managed to clean up nicely. But we did throw away the barbies and other items that got skunky from storage.

I kept all my American Girl doll stuff and I absolutely plan on letting my daughters play with them as long as they are old enough to be responsible. I’m honestly excited to play with them lol
