No contractions yet at 38 weeks?

Question

Went in for my weekly appt & dr couldn’t even get to my cervix to check for dilation. I haven’t had ANY contractions and I’ll be 38w on Saturday..
Has this happened to anyone else? I feel like I should be closer to labor by now! It’s disappointing 😤

Once ur experiencing true contractions that would mean ur in labor, so no u shouldn’t be concerned about it just yet.

You potentially also have 4 weeks left, and it's still within normal. Hang in there! You could go from nothing, to labor within hours!  So cervix checks are pretty useless unless you are in labor. 
You can also have contraction without noticing it yourself.

I had this same issue with my oldest daughter (August 2014)... My OB couldn't reach my cervix during a routine visit and said that was odd because at that stage the cervix should slowly start to lower to prepare for delivery.
She did an ultrasound and found that ny daughter had little to no amniotic fluid and sent me to be induced.
It could be normal.

You’re fine! They also mark the first week of pregnancy a little early, so you’re probably actually more like 37 weeks. My first daughter came at 41 +3, sex will help ripen everything.

I never felt contractions lol.. Nothing bad, when the time comes you’ll feel them. I’m glad I had c sections instead
