Could anyone whos on metformin for pcos help me ?

Im thinking of starting metformin for pcos and need some help 
Which dosage did you start with ? 
Do you need any check up or tests while on metformin?( if so what do you have done) 
What did you do after conceiving? Did you carry on taking them ?

I talked to my doctor because with PCOS we have a higher chance of having a miscarriage. And she said I'll stay on metformin until I'm 10 weeks pregnant (when/if it happens) to help decrease the chances of having a miscarriage. I also took one pill a day for a week? Maybe 10 days and then had to take 2 pills a day

My doctor prescribed metformin and I stayed on it through the pregnancy. I was treated as if i had gestational diabetes. I had bloodwork every month along with testing sugars after meals in the third trimester. This time I'm sporadically testing sugars in the second trimester to keep ahead of the game. Luckily, I never needed insulin. I dropped the metformin after birth.  Then, when I was ready to try again, I got back on it. I have a healthy 1 year old and a seemingly healthy 11 week gestation.

I started with 500mg, twice daily, back in October 2012, a few weeks after I found out I had pcos. Two weeks later, I had excruciating lower right abdominal pain. I went to urgent care, where I had my first pelvic exam. They ruled out happy, and OC. They still haven't figured it out, almost8 years later. Granted, it went away after 2yrs, but came back in the form of pneumonia in March 2017. I have had CT scans, external (still a virgin) ultrasound. No answers. Since I didn't have a job, I wouldn't have been able to pay for exploratory surgery (I had Kaiser Permanente). 
With this covid, I am not sure when I will be able to get it looked at. But, I am used to this pain, considering I do have a high pain tolerance..but it is a little concerning how long this has been going on.
