pit bulls and babies?

I recently rescued a five or six week old pit/lab mix from the side of the road. my mom loves her but worries that when my baby gets here in 8 weeks she will become jealous and aggressive because that’s what my aunt told her. along with a bunch of horror stories. I’ve never raised a puppy before but I’m bottle feeding her and giving her puppy chow in the morning like the vet said. she’s so sweet and loves to cuddle and she’s around my nephews and niece a lot and loves playing with them. I just know I’m going to be able to trust her around my son, when he gets here I plan on introducing them and seeing them grow up together would just make me so happy. does anyone have any luck raising a pit or pitty mix with their little one? please share your experience!

My daughter is 9 months old and our pit bulls do well with her. My husband brought her blanket home from the hospital each day he went home to let them out, feed them, and spend time with them. When we got home from the hospital, we let them sniff her, but not lick, and we just watched them around her and yelled at them if we needed to. You just have to train the puppy how to act around your baby once baby is here. My daughter climbs all over them and pulls there tail or ears and they take it. We are still working on “nice touch”. 😬

I’ve never had a pit but she’s so young and already playful with children, I think everything will go fine. As you wouldn’t with any dog, I wouldn’t ever leave baby and puppy together alone, even when you fully trust them.
My dog hated children before I had my son and had even nipped at few. They made her nervous. She was already an adult and so I thought it would be very difficult for her to adjust to life with a baby. But she did just fine. She understood that that was her baby and he meant no harm to her. My son is 3 and my dog is now 7 and they are best friends. She doesn’t mind him being an annoying toddler.

Being a puppy and already been around kids you will be fine. My first dog was a pitbull, my uncle had a pit and my moms boyfriend had a massive staffie when I was in middle school, so I’ve always loved bully breeds. Our current bully was sort of a rescue and he’s 3, i was a little nervous with him and my kids at first as he had never been around young kids. He is great with them! They run around and scream, he doesn’t bat an eye. My kids are also taught not to climb or get in his face and stuff like that, although I have caught my almost 2 year old son grab his tail (which I corrected immediately) the dog didn’t finch. They are never left unattended with the dog though. My kids are also involved in learning how to train him, he listens when they tell him to sit or lay down and of course he listens cause they are generous with the treats 😆

He loves digging in the sandbox with the kiddos.

I guess not all pits all the same but I have a pit bull with both of my kids he is about to hit 200 pounds and he is the sweetest thing ever my kids ride him and dress him up and I have never had a problem at all with him or my kids. He had always been genuine with them! I have had him since he was little he is a year and some now. It’s all in how they are raised. It’s good to raise them with kiddos.❤️

My pit bull grew up with my brother and sister, from when they were 1 and 2 and he’s so good with them and such a good boy in general, pit bulls are the sweetest dogs they just need the proper training like any other dog
