Gestational Diabetes Induced?

Hello ladies. I got my three hour and I failed that so, I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes. My friend who had a baby in April was induced before she hit 39 weeks. Is that common? 
Also, can a natural birth still happen for a first time mom with a very large baby. I see my fetal specialist on July 2nd. But at my 24 week appt they told me she was already two lbs and it’s the 98 percentile. 
Also, any advice you would give to a newly diagnosed mama to be?

I’m a Petite girl and I had GD with my last pregnancy and it was controlled by dieting. Had my son at 37 weeks and he was 6lbs 7oz. I have GD with this pregnancy and is control with dieting as well. I was told she was in the 73 percentile at 30 weeks. I think she might be a little bigger than her brother birth weight. I think it just depend on our body and how it handles what we intake. You will be fine momma. Congratulations.

My baby is tiny so I’m a strange case, I was diagnosed at 35 weeks with awful numbers and I’m set to be induced at 37 weeks. Most of the “cause” of my diabetes is actually I haven’t been able to eat almost anything this whole pregnancy. It’s funny because all I’ve been able to eat this pregnancy is the stuff you can with GDM, and I work out a ton.

I had it with my son. they were set to induce me at 39 but he came at 38 n 5. 6 lbs 8 oz. my daughter I got diagnosed at 10 weeks was induced at exactly 40 weeks 6 lbs. 8 oz again. my induction was the easiest birth experience I've had 🙂 dont stress, things tend to work themselves out

Different doctors/midwives have their own practices when it comes to induction. I was told by my specialist it’s more common to be induced if you’re on insulin. If you’re completely diet controlled the earliest would be 39 weeks, but not necessary. When I spoke with my midwife last she says she lets things happen naturally, but I will not pass my due date. She also stated having a large baby vaginally is possible (that was one of my concerns.) Another reason you’re be induced is if the baby gets too large way before due date, but that all goes my ear during all the check ups.
