Convertible or infant car seat for a newborn?

We went straight to convertable. Cut the cost and we can bring the infant carseat into anywhere anyway...

I think the infant seat seems easier for a newborn. It can more easily get pulled out or moved to a different car. I'll be starting out with an infant seat and graduating to an all in one type later on.

Convertible definitely. No sense spending money twice.
It's a pain to carry around an infant carseat anyways, those things are so awkward! 
When we get out of the car I just pop baby into the sling/wrap and then hav both my hands free for whatever.

If you live someplace where it’s generally colder (I live in Upstate NY), an infant carseat is just better. Since little ones should never wear a coat in the car seat, you can bundle and cover the baby up good for transitions to and from the vehicle without extra steps needed, i.e. bundling in a wrap. With my daughter we kept her in the infant car seat for about 6 months, and then transitioned her to a rear facing convertible one as she was growing too heavy to carry in the car seat. She’s a December baby and my son will be an October baby so it’s just warmer to use the infant one for the first few months 😀

I’d just go for the convertible. If you end up wishing you had an infant seat, you can always go buy one. We only used our infant seat for 3.5 months. I got sick of lugging it back and forth from the house.

We were gifted a travel system that came with an infant seat and loved it. We live in a climate that is cold (below zero sometimes), windy, and snowy in the winter and it was so easy to just click and unclick the seat to bring baby in or out.

We started with infant. And then we switched to a convertible around 2 years. My daughter is pretty short for her age! Highly recommend the infant bucket seat first!
