How do you know youre having identicals?

We were told there's no way to know until birth, with the exception of if there's a boy and a girl. How did you all find out?

Di/di twins of the same gender can be identical if the egg split within the first three days after fertilization. It's a 30% chance. Pregnant with di/di girls and mfm went through a very detailed explanation with me first appointment.

Identicals share a placenta and either are in the same sac (mono-mono) or two sacs (mono-di) . We were told at 8 weeks that our girls were identical as they could tell that there were two sacs already, and they are sharing a placenta . If your twins are identical it will mean a lot of monitoring , ultrasounds, and specialist appointments ! :)

If they are in the same sac, they are identical. If they are in different sacs and/or seperate placentas they are most likely fraternal. But have a 10-15%chance of being identical. The only way to know is through a dna swab test after they are born.

I was just at the MFM today. If the ly share a sac or share a placenta they are identical. However the placenta could be fused and that wouldn't really mean identical. However if they are same sex, separate  sacs, and separate  placentas they have a 1 I'm 3 chance of still being identical. You wouldn't know until they are born. Mine are di/di but they appear to be the same sex. Going to check again next wk.

I have pictures of my ultrasounds and they're in separate sacs but they said they can't say for sure if they're identical or not. I see a lot of people saying they having di/di twins and we don't get told what they mean. My sonorapher knows just fine.

If their identical they will share the same sack and face each other. If their fraternal they will have different sacks and can be different genders. I don't think your dr knows what to look for. Do you have any pics of your ultrasounds???
