How did you find out you had genital herpes (HSV-2) ?

There’s been a lot of controversy about blood tests for HSV being accurate so I’m wondering how many people actually had an out break or symptoms after a blood test positive to confirm their results? (Yes, I realize not everyone has outbreaks, but the health organization is also not recommending getting tested unless you have sores)

The only accurate diagnosis for HSV is swabbing open sores. Blood test can give false positives if you’ve ever had chicken pox or shingles because they’re in the same family.
