Phone info transfer question

My husband has dropped his phone a bunch at work, well he dropped it again last Thursday and the screen went rainbow colored and within 4 hours the screen was completely black. Can't see anything at all. He ordered a new phone yesterday and I was wondering how we can transfer everything from the broke phone to the new phone since the screen is black on the old phone? I bought a new one back in February and I had to be able to see my old phones screen in order to transfer everything over with the USB cord. Suggestions? His old phone that's broke is a Note 5. His new one will be an s10.
