Teacher moms???

Question

Any teacher moms out there taking their leave for the first part of the year?? 
I’m already struggling to set boundaries with my team, admin, and sub. All I want to do is focus on my family and the new baby when he arrives but I feel like this time off won’t be respected. 
What are you all doing? Are you offering help and availability whenever? Are you going MIA all together?

I actually quit my job at the end of the year. I wasn’t happy with the district I was in and was planning on looking for a new job anyway. My plan is to stay home until January and then look for a new job. If I can’t find a full time position, I plan on taking long term subbing positions and looking again in the fall. 
With my last baby, I pretty much completely went MIA during my maternity leave. The substitute is a certified teacher and should be able to figure it out. Enjoy your time with your baby and don’t stress out about work. It will continue without you and you can catch up when you decide to return. 
What I leaned with my last baby was that although I love my students, my own children need to come first. Your baby deserves your undivided attention. Everyone at school will be fine without you.

I’ve worked for the same district the past 3 years and I’m not returning in the fall. It’s not worth my mental health suffering anymore.

I’ll be out until the beginning of October. I’m completely off the grid until then. This is my time for my family. It’s going to be chaos retuning with covid anyway, and I’m sure their plans will change a bunch of times, so I’ll just see what’s happening when I come back.

I’m going full MIA.  I teach PE and with covid and the disaster that is going to be fall of 2020 I’m happy not to be going back right away.  I just want to keep this time sacred for me and baby girl.  They should respect that.

I teach music. I havent even started planning yet! (I'm due the 12th). My principal told me not to put in for a ling term sub yet in case we do online. I dont know if I'll be in my room or on a cart. I have NO IDEA how to start planning with all the changes that are going to be in place! I'm hoping I'll be able to throw something together once the school has a plan... I guess we'll have to see 🤷‍♀️

I’m usually really anal about how things are done in my classroom when I’m out.  I haven’t decided whether or not I would come back for the first few weeks of school yet. I want to see how I’m feeling before extending my leave. I teach kindergarten but I plan on just going MIA which sounds terrible but we really need to just think about ourselves and the baby.  It’s essentially our time to bond with our child.
I’m sure your team will help however they can with the sub or whatever may happen with this darn virus.

I’m a librarian, but I work at a boarding high school. My paid leave starts when I have the baby (due 7/30) because we get paid throughout the summer, and then I will be on FMLA until after Thanksgiving. I have students assigned to me as an advisor, and I’ve volunteered to continue those duties while I’m out. The school has otherwise made it very clear to me they cannot ask me to do anything while I’m on leave. I’ve had to request in writing to keep my advisees and be able to work with them instead of having them transferred to someone else.

I set up my sub at the end of last year. I had a few things to wrap up. I shared my lesson plans and as many tips and instructions/passwords/etc as I could. I will be taking my 12 weeks without being much involved. This is the only maternity leave I will ever be taking, and I am going to enjoy the time with my twin girls.

I'm not completely sure if I'll end up needing to take much off from school, since I'm due the 10th and being induced the 17th if she hasn't came by then. In MO all schools are starting no earlier than August 25th, which is technically when my 6 weeks would be up. However, I may end up missing the first 2 weeks or so, but my school district is being super helpful so far! 
My main concern and my districts is that I have plans made for the first few weeks or however long I'll be out for a sub. If I do have to miss a few weeks, I'll be mostly MIA but also reachable in case of emergencies or quick questions.
