Covid & family?

Question

Okay so I have 2 babies under 2 and since we’ve been in lockdown (Since April) we haven’t let any of the family see ours kids for obvious reasons but I’m wondering how are other families dealing with it? I’m having a really hard time and so is my family not being able to see the kids and meet our newborn but I just wanna be safe and put our kids health & safety before anything or anybody else. What have y’all been telling your families?

We met my MIL in because she had to watch my oldest while I gave birth. She had “rules” to follow and unfortunately she broke them a few times in a months span so she’s no longer allowed in our home or touching our kids. I held off for a month and then let her hold our newborn and then found out she broke a rule.
So we are back to social distance visits only

I think it really depends on what your area looks like, what your risk is otherwise, and how your family takes precautions. For example, my husband works out of the home (I do too, but my job is awesome and accommodating and I have only had to go in once since March). So, there’s some risk there. My family is quarantined with me currently (came for gender reveal mar 14th and never left) so it’s mostly a non issue to me but if they lived locally and were quarantined at least two weeks prior to the interaction, I would feel comfortable having them over. If they were more reckless or wanted to fly on a plane to us, that’d be a different story. My in laws are harder. Only my husband’s mom works but she is a teacher and will have (presumably) just started back work. I don’t love this exposure scenario, but it’s hard to tell them not to visit when my entire family gets to live with us for extended periods of time. Currently I am planning to wait two weeks and then have everyone over for the day (it will also be our daughter’s second birthday then). But if the situation is worse or anyone feels unwell or had recent exposure that will change

I had my twins in feb, lock down April like you, for a bit we didn't have family over because of their jobs, then they started to come over with masks now we just all tired of it and they come over when they want they know if not feeling well stay home but other wise they come over like normal. Kids need their grandparents and family. My 2 yr old developed anxiety through all this and we just getting him to be ok leaving the house again
