Are you getting/planning to get cervical checks?

I’ve known ladies who have stayed 0.5cm dilated until they go into labor, and mamas who have walked around at 6cm for weeks. They don’t really give you any idea when baby will come, they increase infection risk, and there’s always a chance the provider will accidentally break your water while doing it. I understand the curiosity for sure, but for me it just doesn’t seem worth the uncomfortableness and potential disappointment of either not going into labor soon if I’m dilated some /being discouraged that I’m still closed, you know?

It was uncomfortable and I was 4 cm dilated for 5 weeks! Didn’t give any input about when labor would happen. Not worth it in my opinion.

Nope. Increased infection. Plus they hurt. I learned the hard way from my first baby.

Provider accidentally broke my water while doing a cervical exam for baby #1. I won't be getting it done this time around.

I’ve been getting them at every appointment. Just like last time. It’s standard here 🤷‍♀️

I will be having my group b strep swab on Thursday and if not this week next week I HAVE to have a cervical check to determine what my cervix is doing, if anything. I’m being induced July 22 and if my cervix isn’t ripe I’ll be admitted the night before
