What do you do?

Question

It's all too much... we're behind on everything, cars, house, phones are off, power and water... we have random food in the house but no groceries ...I have no job... my husband hates his... how will we ever get ahead...
My job is gone due to covid as is everything else that were now struggling with. So thanks... getting a job is not quite that simple... we were living within our means and our world crashed around us...
I've been trying to talk him into moving into a 5th wheel and starting over...
I was a PRN employee that worked a lot... that's why I cant get unemployment ☹
Thank you for the tips, we are about 3mo behind. I called the car today and some one is supposed to call me back. I'll try the utilities tomorrow

Hey! I know it’s tough, scary and daunting, but here’s a few tips that hopefully you haven’t tried yet and can assist you! 
1.  Get rid of any “extras”-Netflix, the gym, music subscriptions, etc. I know this seems a bit dramatic and what not, and you may feel slightly more inconvenienced, but if you have cable watch that and get rid of Netflix or other streaming options, if you have a safe place you can walk or jog in, go buy yourself a pair of weights and quit the gym membership. Music  may be a bit tougher, but if you have a job that doesn’t require you to have the ability to stream music ASAP, get rid of it. It may suck for awhile, but these tiny bills add up hugely in the long run.
2. Budget for groceries. Even if it’s the BARE minimum you can afford- budget it out with correct prices of the things you’ll be buying and stick to it. I personally find this one super tough as I genuinely just love grocery shopping and food 😂 but having a clear plan on what you’re buying when you go in and sticking to it has helped me immensely. Also, try to make all meals at home if possible. Even if they’re PBJs, spaghetti, rice, salad every other day or even EVERY day. Eating at home and preparing meals at home saves you money in the long run due to bulk buying and not having to tip servers, etc.
3. Increased income. No clue what your situation is, but If it’s at all possible try to pick up a serving job! In my area restaurants NEED servers as they’re seeing a huge boom in people coming into the restaurant to eat now vs doing to-go. Even if you’ve never served before, try! The money is usually pretty good and at a good company, your schedule can be flexible.

You need a monthly budget. What’s coming in? Go to everydollar.com and start one for free. 
Start w GROCERIES! You need to eat but you need to get creative on how to make the money stretch. 
Then pay your rent/utilities. No cable or internet or phone for now. Internet only if you have to bc you can cal people on WiFi if absolutely necessary.
Then car. This is where most people are in over their heads. 
Then talk with all your other people you owe money to about lowering payments, forbearance/deference. 
Drive Uber, door dash, pizza delivery, whatever gig economy type job you can get quickly to make some extra cash. Sometime just $200 a month changes everything.
You can do this! 
Lastly, go to the library and check out Dave Ramsey’s “The Total Money Makeover.”

I'd start by seeing what bills are essential (power, water, ect.) Which can be decreased or removed completely (phone, car ect.)
If you're on cell phones see if it's possible to switch up your plan. 
If you own your house see if the bank is willing to figure out a different plan. Or talk to you're land Lord.
If you have car payments can you maybe sell one, and buy one with cash do theirs no extra monthly payment.
Buy only essential groceries.
I know it's hard, we basically live paycheck to paycheck. My husband is laid off in winter, spring starts getting tight with the budget.

Double check your state's unemployment qualifications. My state is allowing unemployment for anyone without a job because of the virus.

Car, home, and utilities are making adjustments and plans for people who lose their jobs due to covid. Even car insurance companies and banks are. Call them. 
Most places are willing to work with you regardless. Repossession is expensive and not a fun process for lenders and theyd rather you pay your loan in full anyway.

Hi. Why weren’t you able to qualify for unemployment? Is your credit good? Maybe look into getting a small loan to help catch up. You can do this girl I know times are hard but can you please respond to us with better details like how far behind you are etc that wya we can help you more! So many companies like water, cable, electricity etc are so good with payment plans especially with everything that happened with covid, there was and is plenty of assistance out there why haven’t you tried receiving any of it?

It sounds like you're living beyond your means ... how did you get a mortgage and approved for car payments?  Is this a recent problem due to covid?
Downsize. Get rid of the car payments and buy a used car outright. I paid 2000$ for my perfect condition mini van, I have no car payments, no interest ... Find a job to help out. BUDGET!!! And stick strictly to that budget. Its doable.
