Getting things off my chest rn

My underage friend it currently drunk talking to me and telling me he's trying to forget me

He liked me for a few months after I told him I was gay

I've tried reasoning with him (while sober) but he didn't listen so I stopped

He legit told me I'm the reason he drinks and I feel like I should have stopped talking to him after I told him I liked girls

But I feel like it's too late and is unfair to him if I just out of the blue stopped talking to him.
