Should parents go through their teenager’s phone?

Privacy should be respected and strict parents just make sneaky kids. I believe parents should be able to trust their kids till they prove they can’t be trusted. My mom used to do that to my phone and I just deleted everything, she probably thought I just had no friends. I wasn’t doing anything bad but it was a total invasion of privacy and I didn’t want her to read my friend’s stories and see them cursing. Not to mention, they probably don’t want to know everything you tell your friends.

Maturity and Trust are built. It hurt like crazy when i was younger my parents finding out about things i was doing or watching but in retrospect I'm so thankful and was saved from all types of stuff and internet; app "addictions" which are harmful and a distraction to my future. Constant checks became surprise checks unto rarely ever checks, can't even remember last my stuff was checked.

Not unless there’s a serious reason like the parent suspects something is wrong that the child is doing that can be found on their phone.

If your 15 and younger, i would say yes. If your over 16 then no. At that point they are almost adults and learn on their own about actions and consequences that come with them. If your younger than 15 then yes because that when teenagers are the most ignorant and need help making huge decisions. I’m 17 btw and when I was younger my parents went through my phone and stuff and I dont regret that they did. They stopped me from making huge mistakes that I don’t make anymore. Feel free to disagree, I’m just giving my thoughts :)
